FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is hypnotherapy? Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic technique that uses hypnosis to help individuals address a variety of issues, both emotional and physical. It involves guiding a person into a deeply relaxed state, known as a trance, where their mind becomes highly focused and open to positive suggestions. Everyday, we naturally enter into a trance state Examples include, when we are driving a car or running and our thoughts drift off elsewhere. In this relaxed state, individuals are more receptive to exploring underlying causes of their challenges, changing unhelpful thought patterns, and adopting healthier behaviours. While in hypnosis, a person remains fully aware and in control, and the process is entirely safe. The goal is to help individuals tap into their subconscious mind, where many habits and emotional responses are formed, and reframe negative thought patterns or behaviours that may be holding them back.
Can hypnosis make me do things I don't want to do? No, a hypnotherapist cannot make you do anything you don’t want to do. Hypnosis is not about losing control or being "mind-controlled." When you're under hypnosis, you're in a deeply relaxed state, but you remain fully aware and in control of your actions and decisions.
How can hypnotherapy help me? Hypnotherapy can help you in various ways by addressing both the conscious and subconscious aspects of your mind. Hypnotherapy can help with anxiety and stress relief, sports performance, weight management, overcoming phobias, smoking and vaping cessation, pain management, improving confidence and self esteem, breaking unwanted habits, improving sleep, emotional healing and trauma recovery.
What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy? The aim of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is to lower clients’ anxiety levels, thus enabling them to think more positively and find the solutions to their problems. It uses well researched, science-based strategies that help you understand how the brain works and move you from a problem focused mindset to a solution focused mindset. In essence, rather than focusing on your past, we look at how you are feeling today, how you would like to feel, and how we are going to achieve that together. To work, it requires just one thing from the client and that is ‘positive commitment’. With that and the Hypnotherapist’s skill, you can’t fail to make positive, long lasting changes to your circumstances. I know that the first step is often the hardest. The first step is to be brave. The first step might be to pick up the phone or just type that message. Change can be scary but I am here to help with that. I am really looking forward to hearing from you.
